\”PIO\” is based on the miraculous, true-life story of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina.
What makes this movie so amazing is that Padre Pio spent the last fifty years of his life suffering with the pain of the Stigmata and constant severe illnesses. He was considered a “Divine Victim of Love\” a man who suffered as Christ did to save the souls of sinners.
Padre Pio bled from his hands, feet, and side continuously for fifty years and no doctor could ever dispute it and no scientist could ever explain it. His life was filled with tremendous hardship, supernatural events, controversy, and ridicule from both inside and outside the church.
